Did you think that all are cheerfully sunbathing and collect flowers, look how the grass is growing? This year, everything changed - white days has come to our city and it feels it will not end up soon. But we took the weather as granted and enjoyed longer winter gifts. By winter gifts I mean cold sunny days and a lot of snow.
Here are some tips on what to do on a cold weekend:
1. Sit one day in a blanket with a cup of cappucinno and the next day go out
This is exactly what I did last weekends. After that, I went to Valea Morilor park and captured some joyful moments of this winter in spring.
2. Explore the textures of snow
I dressed up well, took my Ski coat and with a cup of tea enjoyed the sights. If you are nature lover, do not hesitate to take a look at the texture of snow everywhere, on the ground, lake, trees. I observed that on a flat area it really looks like a white desert!
3. Fool around in snow
Whether you are mature or not, everyone is a child inside. In this case, do not hide it, just play snowballs with kids, slide the ice and make angels from snow.
I understand, that's challenging, but give a try. I hope you will nail it! The easiest way to do it is to play with your kids.
In the end, I would be glad to read in the comments bellow about your experience after you wake up your child inside :)
4. Sing "Bird is the word" by The Trashmen
You can either sing this popular song known in the animated cartoon "Family Guy" or follow the local birds that accompany you in a freezing day.
In the end, I wanted to ask you: what are you waiting for? Just feel free and share some love to someone in a cold day.
On the first day of March, people of Moldova celebrate the revival of nature in another way.
They give each other a symbol, called Mărțișor. There are 2 strings with hanging tassel, the white and red, tied together. Women and men wear it pinned to their clothes, close to the heart, until the end of March. On the 31st March, they choose a fruit-tree twig, tie to it and make a wish.
According to Wikipedia, the word Mărțișor is the diminutive of marț, the old folk name for March, and thus literally means "little march".
It is considered the symbol of prosperity, friendship, love and revival of nature. People believe that they will have luck if they wear a cute Mărțișor all these days.
In the city center, Chisinau, each year you can choose your "mărțișor" from a huge variety of red&white symbols.
Take a look at the market stall the day before 1 March:
On my recent trip, I've got an idea to shoot my friend and musician, Sasha Moraru, even inside the Capriana Monastery complex. I chose this place because it is calm here. The park and buildings seemed a great background for this work.
The mixture of his rocky style and angels from monastery resulted a productive photoshoot in a peaceful atmosphere. It was hard to make him look serious as he is a cheerful drummer, yes, they do exist!
I opt for black & white photography, because it reveals man's brutality emphasizing jaw and serious facial expression of the drummer. After all, who are brutal if not rockers!
If you are into visiting Capriana take a look at my previous post:
#2photoadventure - what to do in Capriana, Moldova.
Italy, it is one of the best countries that you must visit on a sunny day. This is how I decided to go for a trip and check its marvelous destinations. My boyfriend's friend, Xenia, was living in Langhirano and she was happy to welcome us and make us an excursion and see the town form her perspective.
Langhirano commune is near the River Parma and of course the Province Parma. It is surrounded with a wide number of workshops which make Parma Prosciutto. This delicacy is known all over the world and maybe you are the one that tasted it today! It is so popular there, because almost each citizen earns money out of their small family businesses of producing Prosciutto.
The heroine of this day, Xenia, drive 72 km from Langhiano to Bardi and showed us the Bardi Castle. We had to walk a while as it was located on the top of the hill. It was hot as hell and we stopped sometimes to chill as Xenia was on the 7th month of pregnancy. Now, she has a wonderful kid that will disturb her all day with crying.
So, once we entered the castle, the medieval atmosphere filled the rooms and we decided to make a photoshoot inside the castle.

I know why I am in love with old people. The best one is my grandma - Tamara. She grew me up, gave an education and a hint to continue studying and do whatever I am keen on.
She is strong, hardworking, she grew up two amazing children on her own.
This woman supports me in any situation. I hardly see her smiling but when I visit her, damn, her eyes shine with happiness in this cold winter days.
I thought a couple of portraits will show you the interpretation if my hero:
By the way, who is your real hero? Just leave a comment below and let's compare!

I entered a small cafe, bought a cup of coffee. There were a couple of locals. Suddenly, an old woman looked at me smiling. She was the mother of the owner of this small business, she felt like home there.
What do you see looking at this old woman?
A mother, grandmother, an old human being. One can even say - a dying personality. But she shows, first of all, the simple beauty will all its perfect imperfections - snow hair, wrinkles, freckless, yellow skin. I bet she is kind hearted.
Do you see it now?
My photo adventure started on streets. It is a great place to get into action and end up being shy to take a camera and start hunting people, actions, views.
My friend helped me master camera settings in Manual mode. At first, it was hard to set fast due to constant changing of light and my lazy hands. As a result, most of photos got blurred or burned.
Here are some shots I managed to make even without permission. What a bad girl!
The set was done on Chisinau streets in summer. Who knows, maybe you are one of these strangers.
It is great to make photos of strangers. Why? They are different, so you can see in each photo their individuality and style of living.
